A challenged world is an alert world. From challenge comes change, so let's all choose to challenge. People around the world are celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8. Established by the United Nations in 1975, the day is meant to be a global celebration of the achievements of women. This year’s theme, #Choosetochallenge, spotlights how individual thoughts and actions can broaden perceptions and fight gender bias.
For ages, women in India have been expected to live a confined , domestic life and they have been struggling hard to get rid of these retrograding restrictions. From trying to break free from the shackles of social discrimination, cultural bias, tags of being an inferior sex to fulfilling their responsibility of maintaining a home and a family, Indian women are now finally acknowledged, appreciated and admired for their new roles of ‘entrepreneurs’.
This womens day, we would be sharing few stories of our members who have carved a niche in the society and have established themselves as a successful business women, in this male dominated industry.
Vaishalee Mistryy, a 57 year old woman from Ahmedabad is the founder of Vaishalee Gruh Udyog (registered company)and is running this business for the last six years. Vaishalee Gruh Uudhyog has more then 70 different types of home-made food products, such as khakhra-made purely of whole wheat grain. She also specializes into production of "Jain Khakhra".Her business has grown since then, and her products are also shipped across the globe.
Starting her career as a jewellery sales person, and being an unmarried woman, Vaishali ji went through a lot of difficulties in her early days. Due to the sudden death of her father, she was left with her only mother, who was suffering illness. Thus, Vaishali ji had to leave the job as there were no other people from the family to look after her mother. The thought of running the home and looking after all the home expenses always kept bothering her.
Cooking was the first thing she used to enjoy as her hobby. This passion of cooking drove her to the thought of having her own "start up" business of home made food.
She contacted her friend "Ketki Panchal" who was already into this business. Ketki helped her with all the information required for the startup and was readily available to offer support whenever required.
Taking inspiration from "Ketki Panchal" Vaishalee ji started her business on small grounds, by making khakra, rice flour papad and sabudana papad and started selling it to the neighbours.
Right from buying the raw material from the market to cooking them, she managed everything single handedly.
As her business grew, people started to like the taste, varieties and quality of her khakhra she offered.
With time, she introduced 11 types of natural home-made squash with no food color and flavour essence along with sweets such as "singh paak" "khajur paak" " chikki" and "khajur anjeer paak".
As the demand increased, Vaishali ji's confidence also boosted up, which encouraged her to make more products.Recently she also introduced premixes of sharbat and soup.
Vishalee ji was introduced to konnect women by a friend, and it has been more than three years she is the member of Konnect, or as we say #proudkonnectregisteredmember.
She got a huge positive response from the other members of konnect women who also became her friends and helped her grow her business through referrals.
Now she sells her products on pre orders. You can contact her on - 9374022262 for ordering your products.Your product can be delivered through swiggy at your doorstep. You can also follow her on instagram, facebook and search her online on google.
Living with her 90 year old mother, being unmarried at the age of 57 and being the only bread earner of the home, Vaishalee ji has proved with establishing her business " Vaishalee Gruh Uudhyog", that there is no obstacle that could stop you from achieving your dreams, if you have the power to face the world and power to overcome all challenges.
We salute and respect Vaishalee ji for this amazing spirit and confidence she has.
Thank you for being member of "Konnect Women."
